At Hearts & Whiskers we have one mission: to provide kitty owners with any information they may need to have loving, happy relationships with their furry companions. My name is Estera and I am the founder of Hearts & Whiskers. The one thing you need to know about me is that I am a huge feline enthusiast. I am also a very big fan of Jackson Galaxy – the one and only cat whisperer!

Where did this feline passion come from? 

Well … when I was a little girl, I recall very clearly praying that God would give me either a little brother or sister … or a cat.

Since I am an only child, clearly the first one didn’t happen. However, for my 5th birthday my parents got me a tiny little black Persian fluff ball. I immediately fell in love with the little kitten.

Since that time I’ve pretty much always had a cat or two at home. I’ve had Simba ( black Persian), Tofik (Cream coloured Persian), Misia (a white cat with patches), and now I have two Orange tabbies named Edziu and Tadziu (or Eddie and Teddy in English). Edziu I have had since he was a kitten. but Tadziu is actually a feral cat that we managed to domesticate. Now he is the sweetest most gentle kitty we’ve ever had. 

It is amazing how each cat I’ve had over the years, had a unique personality and their own memorable little quirks. Over the years, I have learned what cats like and dislike. Each cat is distinctly unique and has different preferences. Some love belly rubs. Others will try to bite, scratch and then sulk if you attempt to squish their soft little pouch. Although they are all different, there are definitely some common traits of things that they don’t like (like screaming kids or having a bath).

I truly believe that felines are the best pets and they are very loving and affectionate. I decided to write about the knowledge that I’ve acquired over the years. Hope you enjoy the articles and feel free to comment or message with any questions.
